Nov. 20: Legends in the Senate

Three Senate giants were born on this day.

1917 – ROBERT BYRD

Few men were as devoted to the U.S. Senate as Robert Byrd.  He wrote a history of the Senate and then carefully read each word into the Congressional Record.  As a Senate intern, I watched him one day reading it before an empty Senate chamber.  He would go on to be its longest-serving member.

1925- BOBBY KENNEDY

History cannot yet measure what Bobby Kennedy accomplished in his brief lifespan because so much is still being done by the many many he inspired.

71 – JOE BIDEN

Don’t tell him, his Birthday’s not a big f***ing deal.  Also, don’t rule him out for 2016.
